Since 2024, we have been enthusiastically organising the Festival of Mobile Youth Centres, a youth exchange project that has already taken place twice in Berlin and once in Belgium. Together with Roter Baum Berlin, Le Fagotin (Belgium), Curba de Cultură (Romania), Millennium Van and Strauss APS (Italy), we have developed a format that combines mobility, creativity and participation of young people.

During a week full of activities, around 30 young people from Germany, Belgium, Romania and Italy transformed public spaces into places of encounter, play and discovery. Art workshops, sports, music, intercultural cooking and dialogue formats made the festival a unique experience – designed together with the participating young people and youth workers.

This project not only enriched the local communities with new cultural and educational offers, but also strengthened the professionalism of the youth workers and increased the visibility of Mobile Youth Work on a European level.

The festival was also linked to local events such as Schöner Leben ohne Nazis in Berlin, where it sent a strong signal in favour of solidarity, democracy and diversity. Thanks to this Erasmus project, the network of Mobile Youth Centres continues to grow today – and shows how international cooperation can create authentic, inclusive and sustainable connections.

Participation and learning

The joint organisation was particularly important: young people and youth workers from all partner countries not only attended the activities, but also helped to develop and implement them themselves. This enabled young people to learn new skills such as teamwork, communication, moderation and creative problem-solving – and at the same time experience how their ideas can enrich public spaces and social interaction.
