Do you want to get creative in a really big space – and in an unusual location? Then this is your moment: design the new houseboat of the Mobile Youth Centre Langer See – with your style, your theme, your crew.
Together with the Red Tree Berlin, we are organising the “Tag the Deck – Style Ahoy!” contest. Your vision, your colours, your contribution – for a project that makes youth culture visible and is out and about on the water.
The project: youth club on the lake
The houseboat is no ordinary boat – it is a mobile youth centre that travels on the Lange See lake in Berlin-Köpenick. It travels to places where there are no permanent youth centres and stops off at locations such as Grünau, Müggelheim and Schmöckwitz.
The boat offers space for creativity, dialogue, leisure and participation – with a kitchen, chill-out area, technology, roof terrace and even Wi-Fi.
A place by young people, for young people – and soon with your graffiti on board.
What is the competition about?
We are looking for a creative, urban design concept for the outdoor areas of the boat.
- Pink areas: Here you can freely realise your ideas – solo or with a crew. These areas will later be used as a legal graffiti hall and will initially remain as you design them once they have been realised. The design should be part of the overall picture and harmoniously integrated. Nevertheless, it is good if the area can be recognised and “demarcated” in some way later on.
- Green area: Creative freedom is also expressly desired here ! The only requirement: The terms “Mobile Youth Centre Langer See” and “Red Tree” should be visible and integrated in the design – how is up to you. Typography, illustration, characters – anything is possible.
- Blue areas (windows) cannot be designed and must be kept free.
- The materials required for the realisation will be provided to you.
- You will work on a white aluminium panel
The dimensions of your canvas:
- Long sides of the boat: approx. 10 m × 2.30 m
- Short sides: approx. 4 m × 2.30 m
You will receive a design package from us as a PDF, consisting of
- Photos of the boat
- Technical drawings with marked areas
- Sketch templates (blank & with construction plan background)
- Logos of the Roter Baum Berlin and the MJZ Langer See
